Since 2005,
we have successfully launched various products
using nanotechnology for the betterment of air
quality, in enhancing health and for the improvement
of the environment where we live and work.
Our first air purification product utilises
a filtering system to improve air quality
( IAQ ). Under IAQ, we also offer innovative
Interior Treatment Solutions ( ITS ) and services
to tackle specific air quality problems in
sensitive places such as hospitals, nurseries,
clinics and in transport vehicles. The biggest
potential in IAQ comes from a product that
has self cleaning qualities. We have been
marketing a range of specialty Self Cleaning
Solutions as a coating to treat various types
of building surfaces, home facades and other
exteriors to eliminate the presence of bacteria
and organic and inorganic pollutants.
The interest in air quality products was
a natural progression from the threat society
found from the challenges it faced to its
water sources. While we have gotten more aware
of the need to plan and manage this resource,
air quality problems are only beginning to
receive the attention it deserves.
In fact, self cleaning solutions ( SCS )
have been in the market since 10 years ago.
It was first applied in the manufacturing
of automotive glass. However due to several
reasons, it is only capturing more attention
from the market now. The SAR’s episode in
2004 also awakened the people towards the
need for measures to counter the threat, but
the usage of air-purifying equipment ( some
using nanotechnology ) was temporary. It fizzled
out after the spread was brought under control.
The need for a continuous follow-through to
achieve a higher level of protection against
such air-borne communicable diseases was not
sustained. At the same time when Nano SCS
products came into the market, nano silver
materials also made its advent. But because
of its high cost in production, its usage
did not catch on.
The awareness of SCS among MNCs is gaining
ground. Various positive response have been
obtained from the market after our launch,
among them a prominent petroleum company had
indicated interest, while another automobile
company has also been in discussion with us
on how to harness the potential of SCS for
their benefit. So it is with various owners
of other types of building structures, such
as kindergartens and corporate headquarters.
The present day quality of SCS products have
opened the eyes of users as to its usage and
application. The products not only possess
anti-bacterial, but also deodorising and decomposing
qualities.
The application of SCS has traditionally
been through specialist equipment, which rendered
the job expensive. However after investing
two years in research, we have perfected another
reliable method using the spraying method.
We have successfully applied this method on
several projects with the same promising anti-bacterial,
deodorising and decomposing results.
The qualities of SCS do not stop with buildings.
One of its other applications is in the area
of car care. SCS has the potential to save
substantially on the need for car wash. With
its self-cleaning attributes, cars can remain
clean for a whole year without any need for
cleaning, except for those lower body areas
that are exposed to mud or car tops that are
open to bird droppings. It is a revolutionary,
even audacious concept. It stands ready to
be tested.
In the above scenarios, we foresee that SCS
will help to open up minds to ponder on its
potential not only as a partner to sustain
the earth’s resources, keep the environment
clean and healthy, but also as a means to
help building owners present their prized
architecture in the best aesthetic light.
